Today was our first full work day at the graduate church. So far, the murals are about 2/3 done, the back wall is painted, and we made a lot of progress on the ceiling fixtures. Seeing the progress seems to have encouraged the team to continue working hard to see the project to completion.
We also had a wonderful devotion time this morning, and an extended time of prayer. It's been good for us to take these moments together - NOT working - but refocusing our minds and hearts to meet with God. Although we want to complete the project, we don't want to miss the point of communing with God and each other. And thus far, God has encouraged us greatly through our group devotional times.
We're off to dinner shortly - our first free evening of the week. Everyone is looking forward to going out and spending time with each other in clean clothes :)
Although we love spending time with the children, we've also enjoyed spending time with each other as friends. We've had so many laughs and silly moments together; memories that will stay with us for a long time after we leave Brazil. Being here has been so good for all of us. We are doing a lot of work for the church, but we're also being worked on and blessed too. By the end of our trip, we will surely be changed people.
As promised, photos will come later tonight. For now, a hot shower and dinner come first! :)
